Welcome to Peace, Love, and Veggie Burgers!

This blog is dedicated to some of my passions in life: a love of animals, travel, and delicious vegetarian food. If I can combine those things, all the better!

I love animals, and animal rights are very important to me. Whether it’s adopting pets instead of buying them, loving animals instead of eating them, or just watching a funny cat video, I’m in. I have two dogs, and they keep me laughing all the time with their quirky habits, and they keep me happy and joyful with their loving natures.

When I travel, I love to see wildlife, nature preserves, and animal sanctuaries. Growing up in landlocked states, I didn’t grow up as a beach bunny by any means, but I love scuba diving and I’m always up for a dive.

I enjoy experiencing new cultures, meeting new people, and learning foreign languages. Whenever I get home from a trip, I’m immediately ready to pack up and go again. I am restless by nature, but I don’t think that’s a bad thing.

And last but not least, I have a love affair with vegetarian food. Somewhere around 2008, my lifelong love of animals led me to start learning about how so-called “food animals” are treated, and it broke my heart. Once I started learning more, I said “no way” to meat and haven’t looked back since. In doing so, I also started learning about how to expand my diet that had previously been heavily dependent on meat and animal products. What I discovered was a whole realm of delicious food that had hitherto been unknown with me. I became friends with tofu, tempeh, and seitan (oh, how I love seitan…), found some delicious faux meat products to satisfy those cravings for some of my old favorite dishes, expanded the variety of foods that I ate dramatically, and found a lot of peace and happiness along the way.

I will say up front that I am in no way a “foodie” that will try anything, nor do I have an amazingly sophisticated palate. That would be a dirty lie. I grew up in a family where Velveeta was a food staple. I was a very picky eater in my formative years. I’m often a lazy cook. I don’t drink black coffee because it tastes horrible and bitter to me. Beer is all pretty offensive to my , and I really can’t tell the difference between one kind of wine or another. But when I find good food or a delicious drink…oh, it makes my heart sing. So, if I find new recipes, restaurants, or food products, you can be sure I will write about them here.

Thanks for joining me on my blogging journey. I hope that you enjoy reading it as much as I enjoy writing it!

Wishing you peace, love, and veggie burgers,
